Secrets

Sexual violence most often takes place within the children's nuclear family.
The perpetrators compel the affected children to remain silent.
Often, dire consequences are threatened if the secret is revealed.

In addition, many children have the fear of not being believed or of being rejected for what they have experienced.
Children also find it difficult to confide in someone, due to their own feelings of guilt, which are often fueled by the perpetrators, and feelings of shame.

Since it is particularly difficult for many children to disclose the act to other relatives, especially in cases of violence within the family, they need alternative contacts, such as teachers, educators or school social workers.

Give your children these opportunities.
